I belive they are definitely heavier. My friend had a stepside and I have the 5'8" bed on my CC and we lifted both beds off the trucks to trade fuel pumps. His was a lot heavier.

My truck weighed 4160 lbs with out me in it. The only weight removed was the spear tire and front sway bar.

At one time there was an option for a composite step side. I forgot what years they were. They were supposed to save a lot of weight but I don't remember how much.

It seems like to me that the '00 and up stepsides would be lighter since the fenders are molded plastic. I've always heard that the fleetsides are a little heavier, but not much. As mentioned before, maybe 150-200 lbs.

ya it probably depends alot interior to... mines a w/t wit a little weight reduction and i was at 4090 before.. thats wit a 1/8 tank of gas and w/o me in it... a full tank of gas can weight more than 100lbs than one thats almost empty so that could be your weight difference right there between a stepper and fleetside lol... sometimes i still wish mine was a black silvy stepper though
