i think its old age, i saw a thread once that i think there was a kit to rebuild it or something that fixed the shake.

Is it shaking while driving at highway speeds? Possibly a tire out of balance, or a shifted belt in one of the tires? Are the pressures set? A low tire will cause the steering wheel to wobble side to side. If you're experiencing the shaking only during braking, you may have a rotor that's out of round causing a brake pulsation. Other possibilities include worn steering and suspension components, worn/loose wheel bearing, etc.
