Default Steering shaft rub??

As some of you know I just installed some Thorley Tri-Y's on my 01 Sierra and now the steering shaft is rubbing on the headers. I think its only hitting on the first rib of the accordian part of the shaft. Has anyone come up with a safe and effective solution to this problem? My dad seems to think if I **** with it at all the steering will just fail and I'm gonna wreck!!! I was thinking of just smashing it down a little untill it clears the header. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated !!! Please respond ASAP because I already have the shaft off and would like to try something today. THANKS!!!

Not sure what year your truck is and if it's 2 or 4wd. If it's 4wd you could try loosening the 3 gear box mounting bolts and shifting it a little, but you'll need an alignment afterwards. That's what I did when I installed my Gibson shorties and it rubbed a bit.

I know some of you guys have the Thorley's and have had this problem, has anyone called them and coplained, what did they say? That's my next course of action because the only other way I can see to keep the shaft from rubbing is to beat the header tube in until it doesnt hit. I am going to call and complain and see if they will fix the problem.
