i have an 03 silverado extended cab and the steering olumn has a weird thumping in it when i turn the wheel. doesnt seem to get worse but now the steering wheel doesnt lock anymore when you shut thr truck off. anybody heard of this issue before ?

 

You may have two seperate issues. The upper intermediate shafts in those trucks were notorious for clunking in the turns and your steering lock actuator may have stopped working. The upper shaft is GM part#19153614.

 

dO A SEARCH ON IT. tHERE'S A THREAD IN THE STICKY'S THAT EXPLAIN THE WHOLE SITUATION.
