Default Starting woes.....HELP PLEASE!!!

Howdy. I have been havin a hard time with the truck lately getting the damn thing to start and stay running. It behaves in a similar way to when you forget to hook up the wiring harness on the MAF but without the SES light. It will start up but will not idle or stay running. I dont know what the hell to do. It started just fine this morning but when i went out to leave school to get some food, the damn thing didnt start. Battery!!! I then unhooked the battery (cleaned the terminals and it barely started and behaved in a similar way as described above.) and limped home where i am staying and having to skip a class. Im about to call Allen and ask what he thinks cuz there is no way in hell im gonna let the idiots at autozone figure out the problem. Im about to pull the alternator and battery and have them tested just to rule them out. Thanks for reading and any suggestions will be welcome.

Also, whats the deal with those little steal clips that surround the alternator bolt. I have removed the bolts but cannot get the alternator out. WHATS THE TRICK to getting the alternator off the bracket???

Well guys, thanks for the help. I got it all figured out. I feel blonde because the connection between the TB and the CAI wasnt tightened all of the way. The MAF sensor wasnt geting proper readings due the leak. I called my buddy who is a tech at the local chevy dealer. He said it sounded like an intake gasket leak. I sprayed starting fluid around where the heads meet the intake. No leaks. I sprayed the TB connection and she died down a bit, then revved up about 300 rpm (had a buddy watching the tack) Just thought yall wanted to know for future reference.
