Default speed sensor?

Well today I went over to a friends place and played in the snow with trucks, I barried the truck really good and got pulled out, anyways one the way home the abs and e brake lights came on and lost 3 and 4th gear, had to manualy shift into 1st and 2nd to actually move, anyways, about 3/4 of the way home the ebrake light turned off and i got 3 and 4 gear back, ate some lunch then took the truck for another drive, all was going well untill about 2 minutes into the drive same thing happened, abs and ebrake light came on, lost 3 and 4th gear for a few seconds then went back to normal, and did this on and off the whole time i was out. Would this just be one of the speed sensors on my autotrac case? or Im thinking/hoping its just my splicing job i did for the rear sensor when i swapped to a 241 case then swapped back, any input is appreciated!

Woah damn brother....the symptoms you descirbe here kinda confuse me. I'm not so sure the speed sensor is your problem. Maybe the speed sensor on the transmission, but not really the one on the hubs.

Park the truck in a heated garage for a day and let everything melt off. Reset the PCM and try again

IM thinking its the VSS on the transfer case, back when i swapped over to the manual case the speed sensor in that one was bad and made my speedo jump up and down some, and if it jumped enough it would cause the transmission to down shift or up shift, so Im thinking its either the vss gone bad or the wire that I spliced going to it

Ill update tomorrow

Since it affected 3rd and 4th gear, I'd say it has something to do with the speed sensor on the transfer case like you mentioned. First thing I'd look at would be the wires that were tampered with, they may have gotten some moisture in them during your romp in the snow.

Just what I was hoping it was, took the wires apart and twisted them back together and the truck showed no signs of what it was doing before, Im going to buy some solder and shrink tubing tomorrow and fix it really good, thanks for the info guys
