Spark Plug Threads

Ok. I have had the ticking noise of which I posted something up thinking it was my valvetrain after the camswap. Got to thinkin that my #7 and #8 sparkplugs didnt go in there all the way. HMMM Tried to get them in there and the were snug. Took them out and used some antiseize on the threads to find out exactly where the threades were stopping. Last night, I was feelin a bit frisky so I went ahead and played a fun game of chase the threads. I did this by removing all the plugs and the belts. I rotated the motor manually using a breakerbar and used a coat hanger to feel for the piston on particular cylinder to come up almost to TDC but not all of the way. I then lubed my 14mm threader and chased the threads...that sounded wrong...oh well. I did this gradually as to keep the crap out of the motor. I chased it several times just using the threader and my hands to thread it(not using any kind of tool). After I was satisfied that the threader was comming out squeeky clean, I used a vaccum cleaner with a 1/4" hose that I necked down into the original vaccum hose via some ducttape.
I then used that vaccum and inserted the homemade tube into the cylinder via the sparkplug hole and then did my best to get the crap out. I also used a comressed air blower for computer cleaning to loosen up the crap by the rings and such. Im sure I didnt get all of it but I got the majority of it and I guess thats all I can do besides pull my head. 1 or 2 aluminum filings should burn off pretty without a problem. Anyways the moral of the story is....Always check your spark plug threads before you put them in. I put in two that had been damaged when falling to the ground and look where it got me. This really sucked so guys, be carefull with your sparkplug holes...they are aluminum and the threads on the plug are much stronger than the threads on the Head. Anyways I got lucky but I have definately learned a lesson from all of this crap. Thanks for reading.
