Default Silverstar fog lights - 893 or 880 bulbs

Will the 893 Silverstar fog lights melt the factory housings? I know it calls for an 880 bulb. I've been running "regular" 893's with no problems but don't know if the Silverstars bulbs run hotter. Thanks in advance.

I'd like to know as well, I've got silverstars everywhere but the fog lights and it looks funny...

I had the 893s in the fog lights, but the little...nipple...(don't know what else to call it) on the top of the bulb kept hitting the reflector-deal inside the light and shattering the bulb. I finally started looking for bulbs that were made a little shorter (same model, just happened to be short), had to go to three or four stores to find a set. Put them in, thought I was good to go....nope! Lasted about a week. I went through about $80 worth of bulbs and one new light assembly (melted the reflector with one of the bulb breaks) before I said screw it and put the stock bulbs back in.

The 880 is the proper bulb.

I know 880 is the proper bulb. I already run the 893 with no melting problems. Just curious if the Silverstar 893 will melt the house. I'm not even sure they make a 893SS
