Y2K, i was planning on painting my bowtie to colot match my truck. we have the same color truck. how did you do it? is it the same color as the truck? what paint did you use

I used Duplicolor "truck, van & suv" paint. Code on the can is T288W DK. Toreadoor Red (m).. GMC called their paint Dark Toreadoor Red Metallic and Chevy called it Dark Carmine Red Metallic, same color. I pulled the grill out, then the bowtie just pops out. Used laquer thinner to clean it off, it gets all the crap off and doesn't leave a film. Took about 8 thin coats of paint, the last couple of coats seemed to fog up but it rubbed out with some wax to a pretty good shine.
