Default Shoestring upgrade to a 95 5.7L 5spd

I have a 1995 Chevy clubcab with a 5.7 and a 5spd from the factory. I am currently short on cash so going to a much newer (and obviously most desirable) motor to replace this aging motor is out of the question. I found a 1984 CHevy Crewcab with a 454 and a 4 speed tranny. I was thinking of pulling the weak 350 and puting the 454 in it - i think that i should be able to use the 5 speed that is in my truck now and end up with more power now and more power potential - it will eliminate the TBI just like a convertion to carb would. I should be able to 1) use all the parts from the crew cab and 2) be able to buy factory replacement parts for consumables like motor mounts because the 454 was available in the suburban that year.

Is there anything that will make this a more complicated swap than it appears to be?

Is the '95 a half-ton or 3/4-ton? 2wd or 4x4?

My truck is a half ton 2 wd. I have located a 1984 Chevy with a 350 in it and running cheaper than the 1 ton that is now sold but I should be able to put the 350 out of the 84 into mine with little to no modification aside from moding the throttle linkage to the carb, and pulling the in-tank pump to replace it with a carb rated electric pump - or maybe a fuel cell and lose the tank completely.

I read elsewhere on the forum that 1995 was still a G1 smallblock - as was the 84 right? If I pull the 1984 350 and just pull the ecm out of my 95 as well as the TBI and install the motor complete is would be just like doing a carb swap from TBI. I am pretty sure that the 1984 engine is not as powerfull but it is coming out of a 1 ton with low miles so it is likely a 4-bolt and I can run it like that until I find a better engine - I am going to have to replace my motor soon as a rod is starting to knock and I want to be able to drive it - I dont have the skills to rebuild my engine and I dont have the option to leave the truck off the road for long periods.

This should be a rather straigh ahead swap - even the headers that are on my 1995 will swap over right?

ANy information would be really appreciated - I really cont have this turn into some big project - my wife will never let me hear the end of it!

This might be a better place to ask: http://www.pacificp.com/forum/index.php

If you haven't already done this, search google for "tbi-to-carb" and you'll find some info.
For instance, https://ls1tech.com/forums/archive/i.../t-241890.html

Since you have a 5-speed you are ahead of the game.

regardless of what you're trying to get, if that transmission is a gethdrag, it can't handle any power.

I did a google search and it looks like that getrag trans is only in front wheel drive cars - and sometimes is swapped into or a limited number came in mid-engine fiero models. Can't find anything that says that they are a RWD trans - can you link me to what you are talking about?
