I had a pretty scary moment this last summer...

I was surfing off the coast of MA here... I was in between two beaches which don't allow surfing, in about a 1/2 mile strip of 'no mans land' where there are no lifeguards and basically no beach-goers.

I was out on a sand bar, about 100 yards off the shore, in waist to chest deep water, just goofing around with the long wide sets of waves that were breaking out there. Inside the sand bar, the water dropped to about 6'.

Well I'm just hanging out in between sets, off my surfboard, standing aside it. It's dead quiet, with the small waves breaking real far away. I'm looking around in the water, kind of creeping myself out wondering if these very large slow moving patches of black I kept seeing was sea weed or what. I'd see some seals pop up out in the open water. From far away they look like cool dogs. Every once in a while, one would pop up rather close (within 40 feet), and they look more the size of a bear. I wouldn't want to tangle with one.

About five feet away, a thin silver fish jumps out of the water and screws away. It scared the hell out of me. Within a couple of seconds, I get a swarm of these fish all in some sort of a panic mode jumping out of the water around me, going by my legs and everything. I'm thinking "Oh ****, what the hell is chasing these things?". There had to be about 20 of them at once breaking the surface around me. I can't see into the water because of all the splashing they're doing.

As quick as they all came, they were gone, and I never saw anything. I had just enough time to get out that one thought. I don't know if they were just cruising along and basically ran into me, or if there was a seal or small sand shark out there looking for them. I left the water shortly after that though.

I was snorkling in West Palm
Cruising along
looking at sgt majors and tangs... stuff like that
Then I spot a barracuda - about 2 ft long
turns its body toward me
my heart was pumping
I look in the water and I had forgot to remove my wedding ring
- I hear they are like shiny objects - and I am thinking o SH**
It then opens and closes it mouth
HOLY CRAP - the teeth were unreal...
I started swimming around to the left
scared..... you know when you get that hot feeling and time
slows down......

LS1csherm... I know how you feel. Just imagine a 5' long one doing that to you while you have 30# of bloody snapper hanging on you.

In Hawaii, legal age for consensual sex is 14...

BTW, I am no pedophile, I'm 33 my girl is 24. It's just so amazing that a bleeding liberal state like Hawaii has had this law on the books for a while and still hasn't got it changed.
