is it safe to power wash motor

Yes, it's just fine.
I just don't spray the alternator directly but I always wash my engines with no problems at all. If you are using a high pressure power washer but hold the spray nozzle a little further away is all.

X3 on what these guys both said, I clean my motor every time I wash the truck as well. I also don't apply any "protectants" I.e. Armor all, F21, Glossifier...etc as I don't like way it holds/attracts dust/dirt

FFDP, when you power wash your engine bay, do you own your own power washer and adjust the pressure with different tips or do you go to the Car Wash and use theirs? Do you add any soap or just rinse? Sorry for the length question, just curious lol!

The whole knock sensor thing with washing is kind of bullshit..... honestly. The guys that seem to have them fail take some high mileage engine that has never been washed ever... wash it and get knock sensor codes. Probably while washing spend a bunch of time on the valley cover and since their old dry rotted rubbers leak like a sieve it fills the cups with water and voila..... codes. I did knock sensors at 150000 miles on my 05.... the front was still like new and the rear was a bit rusty but nothing crazy...... harness still looked okay but was worn at the back of the engine and probably the source of my code...... not the sensors. I have washed the engine every single time I washed the truck and it took a decade to get a sensor code lol. I wash my 04 all the time.... no codes..... my 03..... it had throttle body issues and went into REP..... but no knock sensors lol... my old 06...... my 00...... etc......
Just wash it and not worry about it lol.
