Ordered the pump and assembly today, bout $230 Not looking forward to dropping the tank, but definitely looking for to not having to worry about being stranded somewhere.

That looks a lot different than the non flexfuel buckets. Swapping it isn't bad. I put the truck up on jaclstands, then put a floorjack under the tank with a 2x6, bust the strap bolts loose and lower it down til I can unhook the lines and wires then drop it the rest of the way down. Make sure you spray off the top of the tank before busting the retainer ring off, a lot of gunk builds up there and can fall in the tank when you pull out the sending unit.

My black z71 tahoe did the exact same thing.. I could get out and kick the tank and it would fire right back up..

Swapped it in this weekend. My gas gauge finally reads Full! It has never gone above 3/4 tank in the 6 years I have owned it! And ran it down to about 4 gallons (I know, it isn't good for the pump, but once won't kill it) just to make sure the "running out of gas with gas in the tank" problem was fixed, and happy to report it was still cruising around with 4 gals in there.

Same symptom back again, happened twice Luckily the "hitting the bottom of the fuel tank with a blunt object" trick worked both times to get it started.

Looks like AC Delco has a 12 month warranty on their fuel pumps though
