Default retired pest control truck given a new life

hello pt.net first i want to let everyone know the story on my truck and mods that have been done along the way back in late 2010 i bought a white 2000 silverado scsb that was an old retired pest control truck with 176,000 miles 4.3 2wd w/t power nothing. am/fm radio that only one speaker out of the two worked and the radio was a hit and miss if it worked every mount on the truck was busted brakes wore out tires bald and rubber mates no carpet body 6out of 10 but at least the a/c blew cold. every body made jokes about the truck but i seen a swan somewhere in the ugly duckling. well a few months went by and i found some black wheels on cl and put them away untill i could affored some tires couple months later tires and wheels were put on the truck then i traded a guy a nitro r/c truck for a 2-4 drop kit and insalled the kit soon after that 06 silverado tail light o6 tahoe front grill new alpine deck all speaker holes where filled with stock speakers from the wrecking yard and added 2 12s and a kicker 750 amp behind the seat then i took the carpet out of a wrecked ex-cab truck and cut to size installed the carpet after cleaning and shampooing for an hour drove the truck for 6 months this way and having to reach over and role down the pass window and or unlocking the door for my passengers got realy old so i went back to the wrecking yard and set a deal with the owner for door panels switches and wireing harness i gave my truck power windows and door locks. well i realy wanted some more power and many ideas were going through my head about installing a 5.3l or ls1. i had the knowledge just no money. now this is the sad part of the story. on january 1 2012 after washing and detailing the truck around 3:30 in the after noon i got a phone call from my a family member that my aunt was in a car accident and it was about four miles from my house if i could go and make sure everything was ok well i got in my truck when i got there my heart dropped from what i seen. there was my aunts 01 silverado mangled in the middle of the road and a 4x4 ranger also well i ran as fast as i could to her truck and they where pulling my uncle out of the truck and i seen him moving his hand so i said good he is ok but when i got to the pass side of the truck there lay my aunt being held in only by a seat belt. she had past away in the crash. a 21 year old boy ran the stop sighn doing around 80 t boned the truck right on the pass door. well long story short when the released him on the spot cause he refused medical assistance he was gone the d/a cant find him they said he was an illegal from and had no papers no insurance nothing and he probly went back to home town they wanted to charge him with man slaughter but they cant find him. well after the funneral i asked my uncle if i could buy the truck back from the insurace company and he said yes. i then took the 42,000 mile motor and tranny out of the truck cleaned and washed all parts took the motor apart installed a custom ground cam springs and pushrods along with a set of milled 243 heads and 3600 pi converter and did a 4.3 to 5.3 swap took the truck in to get tuned and then refereed and it past no problem got the sticker on the door jam now i recently got a tbss intake and soon a trutrac 4.10 and long tubes re tune and we should be on our way to paint... sorry for the long story but i thought you all would like to here how the truck got to be where its at now and the roads that god leads us through in life. but thanks for reading and if i can ever help any of you out with no power to power conversions and 4.3 to 5.3 swaps dont hesitate to ask.

Cool story..Sounds like a really nice truck!..I thought in CA, If you want to get a motor swaped vehicle bar'd, you had to put a motor in that came in that chassis originally but could use a newer motor as the donor..care to enlighten me?

thanks buddy. your right but the loop hole here is scsb trucks cam out with 5.3 from the factory and the 5.3 is still considered light duty engine the swap is all legal as long as you put all emmissions related components that came off the donor vehicle back on.. for example when i had the 4.3 it had a smog pump on it and the donor truck did not i didnt have to run the smog pump and as long as the donor truck is newer you will be fine even though if you have an 02 silverado with a 4.3 and you install a 4.8 or 5.3 out of an 01 the ref will never know the diffrence if you dont tell him also when it was checked i had the cam and converter already in with the milled 243 heads they want know the diffrence unless you get a real jerk. all though he did say the truck was louder than normal and had a lote of drone too it i just played dum and said yeah i dont like it either hahaha. but i will say this the cam specs are kinda big but it did pass cam. 608,610-219-222 on a 115 with a little more compression than a stock 5.3 so i know we ca. guys can do it and be leagal
