Good luck though jim.
If it's the first time he ever ran a 9.xx, how can they DisQ him? They wouldn't let him run again w/o the proper gear but somebody that is as close to 9's as he is could get there with a really good reation time. Not his fault he broke into signle digits. I don't know how the rules read but it seems shitty for a guy to run as hard as he can, get an awesome time, and get DisQ because of it.

Reaction time has no effect on elapsed time. I'm sure he could get a 9 second pass. He said he had about 200 hp he was holding back so he would not hit 9s and be disqualified. It is only a matter of time. Congrats Parish.

i believe they stuck around michigan long enough to make some passes for the test and tune tonight. word was that he left not long before i got there for test and tune. basicy he may have pulled it off.

as for running 9's in the class, rules are rules. you can't play the i didn't think it could do it thing. if there's a possibility that your vehicle may run that number then you have to have the saftey equipment to run that. if you know your vehicle runs very low 10's, then you know 9's are a possibility. if you don't add the saftey equipment for 9's, don't run 9's. (at least for class racing like this).

no nine's not even close. i did win my class and had the best week of my life. there is no way they would ever put a truck on the cover of hot rod. maybe a little corner but even that i doubt.

too tired to type anything new, here is a copy of an email i sent to my dad.

"hey, this was the most fun crazy week of my life. there is soo much to tell about the week i dont even know where to start. there is lots of coverage at 1320video.com, you should find a computer to watch those videos on but the best videos are still being worked on and wont be up for a day or two.

the rules of the event say you can't put your car on a trailer and you have to carry what you need. you can get local help and buy parts along the way.

we loaded up the trailer with everything i have in the garage. all my old parts and some new parts, lots of fuel, oil, every tool i own including stuff like the welder and torch. the trailer was full and we put it behind the truck. we headed to KC and started racing. everyone we met except for 2 guys were so nice and genuine and helpfull. drag weeks was set up into 4 diferent divisions of cars. my division was small block power adder.

the first day of the race i ran an all time best of 10.13, the fastest guy in my class was a full second faster than me and just happened to be the guys there were not so nice. we met all kinds of crazy people driving very valualbe cars and then beating the hell out of them. one guy was driving a ~68 dodge dart hemi. this car is so rare people are telling us it is worth about $200,000, he had tons of problems with that car and somehow finished the week out.

next day was about the same but i got a 10.08

third day i got a 10.15

forth day it was hot and sticky and the best i could do was something like a 10.28 and i think i hurt something. i made lots of passes.

today we got to the track and it was a perfect day, truck should run hard, well... it turns out i did mess it up the day before, it still ran but something was wrong. i was able to run a 10.53 and it pucked all the water out on my last pass. i think it is a head gasket but after it cooled we filled it back up and headed home, we are in chicago right now and will finish the trip tomorrow. my average for the week was 10.24. we got 12mpg with the rig and so far have 1800miles on it.

whew.... now for the good parts. there was lots of carnage, people with these crazy fast cars breaking down. blown rears, lots of blown up trannys, the all time leader melted down 5 of his pistons. most of the people with tons of help from other racers got back on the road and made it to the next track. there were 3 cars in the 8's and 2 in the 9's. these guys were all hard core racers, insanely nice and a blast to be be around.

for the week i was 2nd in my class. remember the guys that were not nice, well they had me by a full second. this is where it gets exciting. the racers are suppose to be "self policeing" we were told by several other racers that they thought this guy was cheating and towing his car from stop to stop. we decided to have a couple of friends that were there tail that car from the 4th day to the 5th day. the guy following is 1320video, my buddy kyle that does all the cool videos. HE IS GOOD!!! REAL GOOD!! he was riding with a couple of other friends Lee and travis.

he was on their *** for for awhile just acting like he was geting a story like he did all week. the guy told him not to wait and they were going to drive it slow. kyle persisted and just stayed behind them. eventualy it got dark and the guy tried to shake kyle, he thought he did shake kyle. he was wrong! a few miles later the guy actualy loaded the car up on a trailer! kyle got it all on video and it looks great.

we did an "official racers protest", the guy got kicked out. this guy was an *** and a cheater. no one liked him and now everyone disliked him. with him gone that put me into first place in my class. first place it a prety big deal. i will difinately be in the magazine again and probably get on tv. i got a prize package worth about $3,000.

like i said before it was soo much fun. everyone there was having the time of their life. we didn't use anything off the trialer other than some hand tools, fuel and tires. at least 10 other racers got stuff from us and we were the heros for a lot of them. everyone loved the truck, people were just freeking out over us driving it that far with a prety good load behind it and runing low 10's all week. i met lots of people i have only read about. i met my tranny guy in chicago and he couldn't be any nicer. soo much fun.

ok, there is more but it is late and i got to get to bed. there will be lots of crazy videos to show you.

Jim"
