Default rear axle removal

struggling to get rear axle out of 06 Tahoe 4x4. Every video I watched shows the axle sliding inward far enough to pull the c clip. My axle only moves in far enough to see about 1/4 of the clip. What is stopping the axle from going in? I have to be missing something. Thanks.

Did you pull the cross pin out?

Did you remove the brakes so its a bare axle hub?

Pin is out and brakes are off. Its really bugging me. I gave up for tonight but will need to figure it out tomorrow. The passenger side goes in slightly more then the drivers side but still not seeing half the clip.

Smack it with a rubber mallet or plastic dead blow.

Probably alot of trash on the axle near the seal area.

I can look through the pin hole and see the axle hitting the block in the very center instead of sliding through. There is a little play in it but it wont line up and let the axle in. Any thoughts

The block right in the center that the axle would need to slide into. Have no idea what its called . I gave up and put it back together.

Sometimes you have to jiggle that cross block out a little ways to allow the axle to move it and let the clips come out.
