What happened to the 6L85e? I want a 6 speed auto!
4 speed autos are like sooo 10 years ago!
I don't the ford and dodge boys are out though.....can you say Lightning or SRT-10. The Lightning is down but not out. I'm sure it'll return and with more power than GM will ever warranty.

I hate to be the pessimist here, but that article contradicts itself about four times. And if we've learned anything from GM, it's don't get your hopes up.
First statement:
Then we have the chart which lists the Lq9 as optional for all 1500s.
Second statement:
And finally:
So GM, which is correct? Clear as mud always.
First statement:
VortecMAX Performance Package with enhanced towing capability for 2500 4WD models; includes VortecMAX 6000 V-8 with 345 hp (257 kw)
Second statement:
Designed to enhance the towing capability of 4WD models of the Silverado 1500 extended cab/regular-length box and Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, the new VortecMax Performance Pack includes a high-output Vortec 6000 engine rated at 345 horsepower (257 kw) and 380 lb.-ft. of torque (515 Nm), a heavy-duty trailering package and a new 9.5-inch rear axle.
The VortecMAX Performance Package is available on all 1500, 1500HD and 2500HD cabs, with either 2WD or 4WD. It is available on vehicles with mid- and uplevel trim.

Time to sell everything I own and get me one of those!!!!
