Default Project: 13.99 or better

Alright guys, I've done my homework and have been reading thread after thread on goin' fast.

I would like to build my truck to break into the 13's. Shouldn't be too difficult, or epxensive, I hope. But with GM having such a large performance market, I don't want to make purchases now, that may not be right in the end. I want to plan this out, and I need the guidance of the wise members of this board to help me do that.

13.99, or better...

Here's where I am now-
5.3L that just turned 82,000
4l60e
K&N intake
Magnaflow SI/DO
3.42 gears with 29.6" tires on very light 18's rims
The truck is not my daily driver

I don't know what I'm running now, but I haven't really tried either. Without the tranny upgrades, I don't wanna rag it too much, but I just might need to make a trip to Mason Dixon to find out.
If I had to guess, I'd say I'm at a low to mid 15.

Here's what I'm thinking about, and looking for guidance on:-

Tranny: Vette Servo, TransGo HD 2 Kit, Seperator Plate, Fluid, gasket,
Stall: Yank vs. TBSS Will cam choice really determine this, or is the Yank worth the extra cost. Remember, I'm only shooting for high 13's.

Engine: Cam, Springs, Pushrods(?)
Plugs: NGK's TR55

Exhaust: I like my set-up and I think it shoud be good enough for 13's. I have emissions where I live, so whatever I would do, that would have to be in the mix.

Tune: I found a shop a 1/2 mile from my house that can do a dyno tune using the HPTuner. I went in and talked to them last week. They seem knowledgable, and they do lots of cars and trucks, and I do seee Vettes there all the time. Not sure if they're getting tuned or not, though...

Gears: I know going to 3.73's would probably help with the low end, but what would that do to my trap speed. I'm not sure of the max speeds for each gear and I don't want to be shifting gears when I'm at 1319ft.

Intake: Nothing against K&N, but my intake is f'ed up. I want a new one. I'm partial to Injen intakes...

I will be changing all fluids, oil, tranny, rear diff, to synthetic.

Alright everyone, chime in with your thoughts....

I think you mean the I-6 TB stock converter? and not the TBSS..

I loved my Yank TT3000, If i were to do it over again with a 4L60E i would go with it again.

Seems like you have done your homework pretty good..

It would be nice if you were to run your truck and get back with us so we would know what we are workin with.

a sst3200 and full bolt-ons with a good tune will put a rcsb into the 13's. or just cam swap it w/ a matching convertor.

according to general consensus, 4.10s are good for a 1/2 second reduction in 1/4 mile

Thanks for the info, guys.

I may head to the track tomorrow, if the rain is gone- If not, next Sunday.

4.10's will help that much?
