it is all a matter of prefrence. to me something that is 16" from my face is too close to look at while you are driving. i never looked at it in fact. the lowest gauge was ok, the middle one was borderline and the top one was worthless. If i am not going to look at it i might as well not have it there looking ugly.

i had the one that lays on top of the existing pillar. didn't know they made any different ones. it completly covers the existing one.

Well, I measured the very top of the pillar about 26-27" from my face(I guess if I was like 5'6'' the gauges would be in my face what with the seat all the way up) I can't imagine the gauge pod sticking out more than a few inches so that would make it still about 2 feet or so from my face.
I think I'll try it out

Unless you really want the triple gauge pod, Id go for the dual. I think it looks a lot better and you dont have the upper one getting close to you. I could see how you may say its too close. I think the dual pod looks perfect. Thats what I have and Im happy with it.

autometer makes a gauge pod that mounts on your steering column.
