Default Pillar guage pod

Does the 3 guage pillar pod go over the existing A pillar or replace it?

Mine went over it, think I bought the Autometer model. Its held it place by a couple of plastic push in fasteners, and it kind of snaps in place at the base towards the windsheild.
My truck has dark grey interior and the tripple pillar pod was black, you can't really tell the diffewrence between the two with all the other grey plastic in there. I was going to paint it but after putting it on for a test fit I said F-IT! laziness strikes again.
