Default Are Our Oil Pressure Gauges Accurate?

I've never seen mine below 40 psi until yesterday, when it was at 40. What concerns me is that it was wiggling a little, like I've seen old worn out engines do at 5 or so psi, or as if it it's low on oil. Has anybody else noticed this very slight pulsing of the gauge at idle?

Mine does it. It's barely noticeable. I think you may just be looking at it closer than normal. Check your oil level.

Mine's startin' to flutter as well, I'm throwing a high volume GM pump in with my next cam swap here in a few weeks. I'll let you know how it works out.

I wouldn't say that the factory gauges are accurate as far as being "on the money" in displaying the exact number that corresponds with the actual oil psi, but they are an indication of what's going on. Now that I think about it, I believe that I've noticed my gauge flutter a little bit at idle.

Off topic and a completely different style of sending unit, but my gas gauge has fluctuated at all different RPM lol.
