Red face Opinions and Advice 4x4 issues...

Hope I posted this in the Right spot...

Hi everyone I'm looking at a truck with quite a few performance upgrades and only 44,000 miles on Craigslist.

I was looking for some advice. What should I look for being that it has these upgrades beyond a standard truck. Should there be anything else I should look for other than the normal things?

Also would there be any way for me to diagnose why the four wheel drive is not working when I go look at it or should I go and look at it at all?

He said the lights on the push button 4x4 do not light up is this possibly the 4x4 switch on the dash or something more serious?

Thanks very much Ill keep you all posted if I get it or not

Oh and what do you all think of the price to high to low?

Here's the link to the truck

Personally I'd never buy a modded vehicle unless you knew the person or had proper paper work for things done etc etc.

Not that the body is rough, but replacing cab corners and rockers would kinda suck.

As for the 4x4, it could be a fuse if push button or maybe something in the floor linkage or the T-case is broken.

Thanks for the input he did say when I talked to him that he does have all the paper work and install info from the previous owner regarding the mods.

Never thought it could be as simple as a fuse... he did say he though it might be electrical because the 4x4 buttons do not light up when he has any of the other lights on.
Thanks

I would pass... Here is why, Whipple is sweat but it will cost more to make more hp than cammed 5.3...

I would get a stock 5.3 truck unless you just want the plow.

What could go wrong at this point 50-100K mile on 96 chevy, from personal experience...
$200 intake manifold gasket if stock it will need to be replaced
$350 Fuel Pump
$1500 Trans is a time bomb on that combo
$250 4wd actuator (most likely why the light it out) complete normal 50-100k life
$500 tie rod and front end crap (plow)

Now is a 96 chevy worth $6k nope, pass, run,

I'd pass on this truck too. Way to much to spend here! You need to head southwest out of the snowbelt to get a good truck without the body cancer. That's just money you don't need to spend.
