they are the best for boost and other high cylinder presure set up's. something about the fire ring being flexable i think, if the heads start to lift i think the fire ring will decompress a little keeping it all sealed up, that is also the reason they are reuseable. i am kind of talking out my *** here but that is how i understood it.

geting them to hold water i think is the hard part, the word is you need perfect surfaces for them to work where the other gaskets are more forgiving. i talked to some grand national guys and they have the same problem, leaking water.

good luck man

on a related note - does anyone else find it amazing that a stock bottom end (well I think he has different rod bolts...) 6.0 and stock 4l80e can take 10's? Even 11s are amazing.

Personal experience : 01-02 Lightnings can barely get into the low 12s without throwing a rod - and those are performance engineered motors. Were talking about a 'off the shelf' 6.0 making some serious power to get Parish into the 10s

i find it completely amazing, the 4l80e is really making me happy especialy after going thru several built 4l60e's in my last truck. i have rod bolts and head studs in the motor and a $109 shift kit in the tranny, i never even got a cooler put on there yet.

I'm amazed that the bottom ends on these motors are so strong too. I can't believe with as little as I have done to mine it's good for mid 12's. I've been spinning mine up to 6500 with 7psi of boost and have not heard anything from the bottom end that shouldn't be yet.

Parish, I think if anyone, you have the stuff, know how, and the guts to push it for enough to get there. Good luck
