went tonight and couldnt find the 59 so i tried the pf-52. its not even 1/2 inch shorter and everything looked to be the exact same. WRONG. the threads are too small on the pf-52 so i eliminated that option. decided to get a wix 51522 instead.

i think the pf52 is what i used on my cavalier, anyhow i use the wix. it seems to work perfect.

Great filter I must agree after opining the box and looking at the build quality, but $12.00 per filter is a little steep IMO.
Are they reuseable?? I didn't even both reading the packahe after seeing the price.

I'll check the PF-61 next time I'm at Advance AutoParts in town and report back.

Heh i was staring at that filter today, and comparing it side by side with the last PF59 they had. Physical Dimensions look identical, although i had no way of actually measuring. But i did hold both filters seal to seal and they're the same diameter atleast.

But for some reason optically the threads on the PF61 look just a hair larger. But then again the book listed the PF61 as a filter for the 2002 Sierra VIN U engine (6.0L)

Maybe GM should start listing their engine RPO's on the filter boxes

But until that day i'm probably gonna stick to my K&N HP-2006 filter...

They discontinued the 59...dammit First, they get rid of the UPF59, now the 59 is gone all-together. Does anyone know if they still offer the UPF46 at least? (it's like a performance version GM offers...I believe it's synthetic or something like that. I believe that the "UPF" is for "Ultimate Performance Filter" maybe? The one's I used to get from the dealer were black with an orange o-ring...)

I think I still have 2 or 3 59's "in stock" though

After a little Googling, it seems that there's a UPF-44 that appears to be the filter of choice for many Corvette owners, and the PF-61 doesn't have an anti-drainback valve. (oh yea, and the UPF is AC Delco's "Ultraguard" series)

FWIW, I went to AC-Delco's website and they still list the PF-59 as the filter for my 99 5.3

I think it started in 2003 that all GenIII truck engines switched to the PF46, i know thats what i'm "supposed" to be using. But it just looked so damn small for all that oil. In your case, AC-Delco probably has not updated its database to reflect the discontinuation of that said filter.

*Note, UPF44 is listed for my engine as well so it might be something to look into...
