Default Which oil do you prefer? (tune up time).

I'm do for an oil change...Noticed the truck running a little rougher than usual (180k miles) never had any problems. Could be sludge in oil?

Should i use a higher mileage oil?
A thicker oil?
Should i pour in some lucas?

Also, figured while im at it might as well do the spark plugs and replace my K&N while i'm at it, what brand sparks would you go with?

Ngk tr5/tr55 plugs are fine. Can't go wrong with Mobile 1 or Valvoline, High mileage oil wouldn't hurt. Maybe get new plug wires too??

yep tr5 plugs are what i run, and IMO oil is oil. ive tried them all, valvoline synpower, mobil1, pennzoil platinum, and even synthetic supertech! i really believe what makes a diff its how often you change it.

I use conventional Castrol GTX 5w-30 or 10w-30 and a wix or supertech filter

Yep GTX is still one of the best, or if you have your heart set on Synthetic, Mobil 1. As far as filters go use a Wix (Wix also makes K&N oil filters and Napa's Gold filters. There's more I just can't remember). Stay the hell away from Fram.

X2

And I use the Castrol High Mileage, as it has additional zinc, in my old Mopar.

I run AMSOIL 15-40 in the summer, and 5-30 in the winter. I'm running AC delco iridium tipped plugs and NAPA gold filters.

AMSOIL or Royal Purple. I've done both but I'm on the fence about the Royal Purple, though.
