Default OBD-II truck models - any to avoid?

Sooner or later my beloved '68 $399 El Camino is going
to give up and I figure I will replace it with some GM
truck that has A/C and works with HPTuners. Looks
like '99 or '00 (whatever I can get for a bottom-feeder
price with a 6.0 motor) pickup, van or suburban type
vehicle.

I was wondering whether there is anything about the
early year OBD-II trucks to steer clear of - like the
'98 F-bodies are sort of stepchildren with a different
PCM & harness than the rest, etc. Are all the '99-
'02s the same in the truck world?

I had a 2000 and now a 2004, they seem to be fine.

The 99 truck PCM's are more likely to have false KR.
