Default No Heat for some reason, AC works great.

Well it got a little cooler yesterday while me and the girl was out. So I decided to turn the heat on a little bit. Well it never got even warm, just straight cold air.

My first thought was the heater core was plugged. So when I got home I left it running and check both hoses that run to the core. Both are very hot, so it's not plugged I wouldn't think. From what I've gathered using the search button is it's possible the blend door actuator.

My question is, how exactly do I check it's working correctly? Also, anyone have a pic of what I need to be looking at?

blend door motor is common, mine stuck open on heat, it sucked. its the one by the glove box under the dash. Just take it off with it plugged in and turn the climate **** to see if its working.

Sounds like the blend door got stuck. They're not an uncommon problem in older trucks. Fortunately GM made servicing them a cinch.

So just remove glove box and it should be pointing toward the floor, or will it be pointing toward back of truck? It's funny, I can rebuild a motor, yet can't even figure out how the hvac system works, lmao.

no need to take the glovebox out. if you have a center consule it will be right by that under the dash, youll need to take the black cover off that hides all the hvac stuff first.

Update on this: I removed the actuator, and I tried to move the blend door with my hand. It only moves a tiny bit one way or the other. How far should it move? It seriously only feels like 1/2" or so.

Anyways, the heat still didn't work when I turned and held it by hand in both directions. So I'm thinking it must be to tough to turn it by hand all the way.

Well my actuator is not the problem. I took it apart and watched it move from one end to the other. It's the blend door itself that's not wanting to turn. I don't know what it could be held up on but I stuck my hand in a little peek hole and tried to move it. Even putting nice pressure on it, it was just staying put.

So I'm stuck here wondering wtf could it be stuck on. Wish I had one of those snake lights with the camera so I could see what's going on in there and how it works exactly.
