Unhappy No guts 2003 Tahoe Z71

I would like some info on how to get some pep out of my2003 Chevy Tahoe 4WD / 5.3 SFI V8 Vortec engine ? It is the most sluggish fall flat on your face V8 after you pass 40mph. When you increase speed it's as if you stepped on a sponge. No power, no speed just plain blahhhh.
What can be done to put some life into that tahoe ? without breaking the bank ????
Thanks

Nelson Tune would be ideal starting point. Actually any tune would do it some good as opposed to stock.

You can start off with a good exhaust(magnaflow is the best for less interior resonance IMO) intake is going to give you a little more power and gas mileage and a custom tune such as wait4performance or nelson performance both are sponsors here I have a nelson tune and am very happy with it the tune is going to make the biggest difference. Those three should make a big difference then after that depending on how much money you want to spend. What price range are you looking at?

Magnaflow is good but if you want low interior resonance, then the gibson superflow is quiet as hell. It has a slight rumble to it and thats it

But it has been proven that the gibson systems dont flow as good or produce the hp that some of the better manufacturers do. I would suggest a corsa system but they will run about 500 for the cheapest I believe the last time I looked.
