Default nitrous or boost?

Hey guys,

I'm beginning to think its about time for a power adder. Current mods: 5.3, 222/230 113, yank St 3500, 4.11s, true track, and long tubes. I just sold my converter to help fund my 4l80e swap. Going to need to save a little more, but it is in my very near future.

Now I know boost will make more power, that is a given. I have to work around a budget and limitations. I have slowly gathered parts to build my truck the way it is now.

Limitations: The nearest e85 pump is about 100 miles away from my current location. Race gas is available, but the pricing is ridiculous. Also, the nearest track is a 3 hour drive from here. I do most of my racing on the street(flame suit engaged). I do have to work withing a budget. If I go the turbo route I will slowly have to peice it together. I can't drop 6000 on a premade kit.

I'm looking at what will be more beneficial cost/power, perform well on the street, and net me atleast 1 second faster. How much is everybody getting into their homemade turbo kits for and if I'm limited to pump gas, will a nitrous kit show equal gains?

You can get away with 3-4k on a kit with goodies i believe..

but might as well get nitrous for now to hold you off till you can get the turbo

150 shot would wake it up big time and can get in it for under 750 bucks plus tuning

Nitrous now, and then when you get a turbo later you can use the nitrous to control IATs

All depends on budget but I have never been interested in nitrous. I know it's cheaper than boost and easy power but I just like having the power there all the time, anytime I decide to push the throttle LOL. I'd say just keep saving, maybe get a nitrous kit to hold you over for some fun but nothing beats boost!

Maybe some day I will spray a small shot. Boost with nitrous shot has proven many time on here to be quite the compounding HP increase

Both.
Im running nitrous and saving/piecing together a turbo kit. The nitrous is fun and cheap, easy power but it def. gets old having to refill bottles. Im like others i want the power there all the time but nitrous is fine for now. Having a couple/multiple bottles helps too. Finding a good used kit also helps on the wallet. Oh and another thing to consider is how much it will cost to refill the bottles and if there is a refill station near you. Down here we can fill 10lb bottles for less than $40
