I guess you have to be a fan of utilitarian vehicles to appreciate these. I personally think they are freakin awesome. I mean come on, these are some of the most heavy duty vehicles you can buy. They aren't meant to replace the "American" truck, it is a whole different breed. These are made for crossing deserts and crossing the African plains. But, like I said, I love utilitarian vehicles. This Mahindra is just another one of those (awesome) vehicles the rest of the world gets that Americans dont want (not including me)- like the diesel crew Ford Ranger and the LR Defender 130.

Agreed. I like the Mahindras alot better than all these goofy Japanese "mini-trucks" that are popping up around here. At least they will be street legal. If Mahindra prices them right and they really do get 30+ mpg, I think they will be very popular in this area.

So greencountry05, where did you go to High School at.

Yeah, just another Okie from your neck of the woods, lol. Actually I'm from Oktaha, a few miles south of Muskogee.....not sure if you've ever heard of it or not. It's a small town with one gas station and a really good school. I moved to the Landing Apartments in Ft.G this summer with a buddy of mine so we can go to Northeastern in Tahlequah, it beats drivin' from Oktaha and Wainwright three days a week. My girlfriend does have some family in Ft.G though....

I could see people around where I live getting use out of them, the only problem is brand loyalty, most people are pretty set with the GM, Ford, and Dodge around here. But ya' never know........I bet that crew-cab wuld make a wicked pre-runner though. And shoot, for the suggested price of the reg. cab, I might look into one for that price. I mean geeze, I would still be able to have a truck and get awesome gas mileage with it and could drive my 85 Chevy on the weekends for fun. How is this a bad thing? Ok, well aside from the fact that the reg. cab is kinda fugly.....but whatever, lol

The dealership I work @ (Gregg Young Chevrolet) has purchased one of the about 100 that will be opening here in the US.....I've known about it for about 6 months now. Should be around in about a year or so.

they have a better looking truck called the bolero, but they wont be bringing it over. it closely resembles the old jeep commanche pickup. mahindra used to be in cahoots with ****** making jeeps... and it shows in the bolero.

theres another called the maxx that still has a cj type front end. both the bolero and maxx look better than that swoopy number, in my opinion.

There is zero competition in the small utility truck market. The Ranger platform is older than dirt and everything else is midsized. Market is flooded with midsize trucks that barely get full-size fuel economy.

People that use their trucks as trucks will buy these ugly bastards and reap the benefits at the pump.

back home (middle east in Qatar), we had trucks that come from India by the name TATA used for companies, there only good for a year or two and they were only bought cuz theyre cheap, i think all of them were diesel powered. in my opinion, i dont think they could compete with any vehicle thats not Indian.
