Default New Truck opinions..

I currently have a 1999 GMC Sierra 5.3l, Ext Cab, Auto, Tow Package. It's a 2wd.

I want a 4wd..so I'm thinking about selling when I get a 4wd.

This is what I'm thinking..

Find a Chevy or GMC 1500 Ext Cab 4x4 for cheap that has high-mileage, and swap in a fresh built(or low mileage) 6.0l with LS2 Cam, 317 Heads, and stock Intake, TB & Injectors, then have a built 4L60E go in it(I have quite a few aftermarket hard parts on hand). I'll be able to tune it, I have HP Tuners. I'll add in the 3/4 Ton Rear Springs to help the back.

Or..

Find a Chevy or GMC 2500 Ext Cab 4x4 that has high-mileage for a cheap price..build the fresh 6.0l for it, and keep the 4L80E in it.

I don't do much pulling so I figure the first option would be the best, but the 2500HD has alot of upgrades and better components.

What you guys think?

If you dont tow much go with the 1500 idea.
The 2500hd's gas milage would be the deal killer for me.You would be luckey to get 10mpg avg.
The turning radius sucks ***** on the 2500's also.
They are a good truck if used for their purpose though.

Yea, I hate the turning radius on the 2500's that I've driven, tight parking lots are a no go...

Get a 1500 5.3L high mileage truck and swap in a L92 headed 6.0L. And a 4l80.

Then you can swap in a 14bolt SF rear end. Be pretty bullet proof and you can launch in 4x4 high!

Or just get a 2500 and not have to deal with swapping anything.

If this is just gonna be your DD, no towing or racing, just go with the 1500. If you're gonna hop it up I'd go with the 2500 personally (1500HD would be ideal for me).

Ya it would be my DD..towing every now and then..mainly 4wd to have some fun..the racing is done with the Camaro..lol

That's why I say a 6.0l, small Cam, and a stout built 4L60E should work..unless I get the Wiring and Tables for a 4L80E and wire/tune it in..

Anything can be done..I have the tools and a good idea how to do it.
