it took me like 10 min to take it off b/c i have to jack the frame so that it can lower the axle for it to clear so i can pull it out from the rear. that damn thing probably weighs a good 40lbs.

no i didn't get to shortbelt it. i wanted to but it won't work with my stock crank pulley. the belt was rubbing againt the powersteering pulley and was turning it when the engine was running. i've been looking for an uderdrive pulley but they are a lil expensive. i was biding on one from ebay but i was outbided.

Go to AutoZone and get a 60" belt and route it around the crank, the tensioner, the idler, back around the other side of the waterpump pulley and back to the crank. Skip the alt. and you'll be good, but only do about two runs max. then put the regular belt back on to recharge the batt. I ran four times and I ran the batt. down and didn't have any inside lights or gauges, but got lucky and put the stock belt back on and it fired up slowly w/o a boost...I too run the stock pulley...Zed

i got it now. i was thinking yall would route it over the alternator like i seen in someones pic in the short belt thread. if i don't get an underdrive pulley by the next time i go, i'll have to do that. just got to make sure like you said not too run down the battery b/c i leave my e-fans on between runs. i thought about letting the truck cool completely and running it with no belt, but i didn't know if the battery could supply enough juice to them coils. thanks for the info zed...
