Default Need help on high mileage truck

So I totalled my truck last week and I've begun searching for a new vehicle. I found a great deal on a high mileage truck close to where I live. Now being that gas is expensive and I only use the truck for truck type duties (hauling stuff for the house, taking my car to the track a few times per year, etc.) I have decided to forgo getting a diesel even though I really wanted one, just can't justify the price. So I've found a 2001 Chevy 2500, 4x4, 6.0L, etc. with 125k miles on the clock. Again, its a super cheap deal so even though it may need work I'm ok with that. Therefore, given the truck has an unknown history what all should I be looking for, or replacing on the truck. My original plan is to flush and replace all fluids, plugs, filters, etc. What else though on high mileage trucks? What goes bad in the suspension? Sincerely appreciate any help. Thanks

No, unfortunately no paperwork. This truck was a trade at a friends dealership and he doesn't want to deal with taking it to auction, so he's helping me out on the price

Thanks for all the info so far guys, appreciate it. So it sounds like mileage isn't a huge concern on these trucks?

i wouldnt even consider that high mileage. i put over 300k on my last truck(tbi350). this one has 170k,and isnt running at the moment(fuel pump)but has been great otherwise. aside from the ubiquitous 4l60e replacement.

it will be ok just switch all of the fluids to royal purpal and it will run forever, as long as you take care of it.

It's just broke in.
Get a carfax report on it to make things more comforting.
