I'm no a/c mechanic but I think you only need to install your used compressor, then have someone evacuate and recharge the system. If it was a compressor failure, it could put contaminates into your system. You might want to check with a specialist first. I hope somebody will chime in.

changing the compressor is easy, but there are a few things to remember.
1. When you remover the old, there will be oil inside...don't spill it!!! Pour it into a tupperware of sorts and put that same oil into your new one, or the same amount of new compressor oil, its the quantity that matters. Also, if you still have pressure in the system, disconnect the pressurized lines slowly, letting the pressure bleed off (freon into the air is the wrong way to do things, but...) it also allows you to see and guage how much oil comes out (you may loose some, maybe not)
2. YES, change the orifice tube and Oring I think. Its cheap insurance.
3. Have the stealership recharge the system. It requires a very specific amount of low side pressure. If done improperly, you will put too much in and blow the seals on the high side, causing the compressor to go bad almost instantly.
4. Easiest way to get at the compressor, pull the plastic crap out of teh passenger fenderwell, its sitting right there for you. Good Luck.
