How would the BMW X5 handle in snow/blizzard conditions? Are there any advantages to the BMW's all wheel drive vs. say a Tahoe Z71's 4wd?

The main disadvantage of the BMW is the price....and maintenance cost.....stick with the Jeep dude, trust me the Quadra-Drive System is awesome in snow(that's really where the system shines) And again, I OWN a Grand these other people claim to work on them all the time...My father-in-law works at a dealer, and guess what...ALL the work on is Chevy's does that mean they are all a POS...don't think so. Buy a used 4.7 Grand with Quadra-Drive you ahould be able to find a 01-02 with decent miliage for about 20K.

Exactly, that's why you can get a great deal on a USED Jeep!!!

I'm not really worried about resale, since whatever I get will be used and I'll drive it into the ground from there.
