Question Myth or Truth

I lost my original keys and had problems with my truck until I found them. Has anyone else had this problem?

pretty sure our trucks don't have chipped keys. The Theftlock system, if I understand it correctly works by monitoring the ignition switch. If the BCM (I assume, may be PCM) doesn't see the ignition switch turning over to start, and the truck is being started still, it will cut fuel after a few seconds. This system is to prevent hotwiring of the truck, as without the system you could just hot wire it, break the steering wheel lock and be off. With this, the truck won't start unless the ignition switch moves too.

The keys for the 03 Silvey's don't have a chip. I had to buy a new key for my truck to have a spare so went to the dealership and found out there is nothing special about the keys. If the keys did have a transponder chip in them then the truck wouldn't even pretend to start with out the correct key and those keys are expensive to replace.
