that's still bullshit though. its not like its a consumable and they have to replace it every time they bore a block. It'd be interesting to see if a genI 4.030 plate would work somehow. in the end, you shouldn't have to pay **** for it, he gave you a quote on how much it was gonna be, and they shouldn't try to shove it up your *** like that. sorry for the graphic
anyways, that 150 bux is a lotta beer

I wouldnt pay a damn dime, its HIS tools not yours, do you pay for a mechanics tools when you take it in? No. That guy has some ***** asking you to pay for HIS tools.

I'd pick all of my stuff up and take my business elsewhere.
He shouldn't up the cost from his original quote just because he doesn't have the right tools.
He's obviously not experienced with the LS1 engines. That alone should tell you to pick your parts up. IMO

bring it on down here to TX and i'll get Rick's Machine to do the work and I'll help you assemble the motor
if I lived closer I'd help you build the motor no problem

That shop has done Gen III engines before, but I think just 3.898 and 3.905 bores, not 4.030's.

I agree, this wouldn't happen to be the guy that is brothers with your 60-65e builder would it? lol

I could understand him wanting to charge you a little for the tooling, IF and that is a huge "IF" he knows he will never use the tooling again. but with how many LSx engines are out there, that guy had better start stepping it up .imo.
