Muffler F**K up
#1
Welp,I made the wrong choice, just had a magnaflo 5x8 24" duel 3" in single 3" out.******* LOAD,sounds like short glass packs dumped with no cats.So I have no doubt this one wont stay on.I should have gone with my first gut instinct which was the bigger 5x11x22,I guess it has much more drone control.Man i hate wasting money.I dont want to add aids to it,plus there is no room since it's dual 3"pipe going in.

I sent you 2 emails this was the first i think. Here is a copy of the second one.
I didnt think you would mind responding to a magnaflow question.I have used several magnaflows in the past and I am looking to do something again.I will copy and past my sig from the Ls1 tech board.

I have dual 3" going in,what muffler are you using on the hummer? or the escalade?
Of these magnaflow PN do you have a recommendation?

I am after flow and not noise or drone. Please advise. Thanks Gonzo 6.0
**** If I read this correctly you weer looking for "FLOW AND NOT NOISE OR DRONE"
I made my recommendation based upon your criteria of flow
this was my response:
12398 3" / dual 3" (internal perforated X) 5x8x24
12763 3" / dual 2.5" 7x7x24
12762 3" / dual 2.5" 7x7x30
12590 3" / dual 3" 5x11x22
12599 dual 3" / dual 3" (internal perforated X) 5x11x22
From what I can tell it seems you are going to be working with a 330-350 RWHP combo.
Are you looking to do dual in / single out, true duals or whatever works best?
I would stick with a dual 3" inlet muffler with at least a single 4" or dual 3" outlet for best flow. A dual 2.5" will flow the cfm however if noise is not an issue the 3"s will give you room to grow. I prefer the 5x8x24 with perforated internal x because it saves mass and space. I also prefer the sound/tone of this muffler with 6.0L and larger applications. The 5x11x22's are more for resonance control, but are much more bulky.

I believe I gave you the information to make your own decision and I really hope you were not bashing my recommendations based upon your decision.

Like it says,i am after flow not drone or noise.Look,I take full responsibility for the decision,my gut told me to go with the largest case possible, and i should have known better since all magnaflow catback systems with 6.0 or 8.1s use the largest case. This muffler i have would be fine on a GEN2 truck but the GEN 3 motors just have a resonence they devlope all to themselves. The engineer at corsa even said to go with the largest magnaflow since he doesnt offer seperate mufflers.OXI.Anyone asking you for a recommendation is putting you in a bad spot i know, everyone has a differnet idea of what sounds loud or drones or has enough tone.Maybe i looked at you response all wrong,i thought you were recommending the smaller cased muffler over the larger.although i dont think the bigger magna flow will flow less CFM than the one i had installed
