Default Mounting front license plate on 06 Silverado

What's up with the front license plate mount on my new truck? If I screw it down with the two supplied mounting points the plate bends across the middle and the bottom sticks out.

It looks pretty stupid on a truck this nice.

I asked the dealer about it and they said Chevy does not make any kind of front license plate mounting kit. I have seen a nice plastic piece that forms around the front of the bumper and supplies a nice flat mounting point on older Chevy trucks.

Has anyone found a solution to this?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Mike

nope, the dealer isnt f*N you over, I dont think any of the NBS chevys come with any type of bracket, I dont even run a front plate, its illegal not to run one in my state, but I just carry it in the cab.....just in case.
It looks cleaner w/o a plate in front anyway.

I dont run one at all on the front of my 06. It make the truck look stupid in the front like you said and not only that, all the chevys bend the plate in the front against the front bumper in the middle and leave a wear spot so if you run a plate, it will look like crap if you ever wanted to take it off. Thats why i dont plan to ever run one. I just throw it on my dash if im about to be pulled over and i havent got a ticket for it yet.

The new GM's don't come with a bracket...just the 2 little plastic "anchors" with some screws.

Texas has a front plate law also, but after the SS bumper install, I tossed mine up in the dash......I was not about to drill holes in it

I've not been pulled over yet

I've seen a guy who used a bracket off a 2006 Sierra flipped upside down. I've got one, maybe someday I'll get around to installing it.

I shim mine with 1/4" black rubber hose. I'm not going to run without the front plate because that just gives the cops a viable reason to pull me over and I don't want them in my life. Once they have a good reason to stop you then it can get ugly. Never know what they might find.

Kinda off subject but if you live in a state where you done need a front plate and you wanna customize the front bumper, Weld the holes in for a smooth look (only works if you going to color match the truck otherwise you have to get it re-cromed)

They might "find" that you don't have a front license plate mounted..............
