Hey don't depend on them for jack crap! they are lazy bastages that don't want to help. I started school back in may. I filled out my paper work for my montgomery G.I.Bill and was patiently waiting to file my first claim at the end of June. That day comes, i seen dollar signs in front of my eyes. I make the phone call and get a message saying there is no record of me in their system. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! i get a human voice on the phone after about 2 hours of straight calling. This hag, at first told me, "we don't have a file period for you sir". I argue for about 10 mins with her and reading to her every letter i recieved from them. She finally said "well let me go look". I was in shock, the bitch never got up from her desk, and was telling me she had no file of me. wtf over. Well, she comes back, and tells me they have a file but it is missing my signature page. ok, why, where did it go? she says they must have never recieved it. funny cause, everything was mailed together.....well, she says mail it in, and then i can do a claim. ok, two weeks later, i call back to do my claim and still no file! i try for another hour to get someone on the phone and I finally get through. whoo hoo. bout damn time. well, same thing no signature page. i explained what was going on and she said it is probably in the mail room. i asked how long it takes for the mail room to send mail out and she said when ever they feel like it. holy ****, they need some hitlarism in that damn mail room to get some heads rolling. (pardon the hittler reference. nothing meant derogatory by it.) anyway, she says they should have it by the end of july. at which time, i can keep checking or wait till the last day of july to do my july claim and all my money will be sent then.

last kicker is, i am taking 13 hours this summer. that is full time. but the va pays you by how many hours you take in a month! so they break it down to 3 hours in may 4 in june and 6 in july! my monthly payment is supposed to be 985 for full time. nope, not any more.

oh well, guess that is just my luck. sorry this is so long, i had to vent

 

yeah, my brotehr had the same problems, he also found out that the national guard money that's for college is not gauranteed they only have so much to work with and if your not picked your SOL. I am glad I got out of the army when I did, it was the best thing that ever happened to me getting out. Not becasue of the war or fighting but they changed my contract 5 times before I even went to basic and I said hell no, they changed my bonus, pay ranking I was E2 which is nothing but they tried to classify me as a E1. They changed my MOS twice. I finally told them they can screw their self and they had no rights since they changed the contract they couldn't hold me to it. But I feel your pain.

 

Welcome to the US Gov'ment. Promise you everything, yet they seldom deliver. My dad served 21years and retired a Lt Col, so ive seen it and its BS. Yet the more you talk, the more they seem to screw everyone over.

And thats how almost all college, financial aid stuff goes. From my time @ FSU till even this Community College now, they lose paperwork like everyweek it seems. Then they call you and say "oh it was here all along"

 

i didnt even bother signing up for the GI bill in basic....

 

i guess what pisses me off more than anything is i know how administrative work should be handled. I did it for almost ten years while i was in the navy. Then again, I had excellent customer service skills. some folks just don't have any.
