Migrating parts from 2002 to 2008+ Tahoe
#1
Since I don't have an 08+ SUV to look at, how different is the 900 chassis from the 800 chassis? I'm looking to buy a newer truck and swap over my rear axle, transmission and front bumper from my 02 to whatever I wind up getting. Any major changes to the rear frame/mounting points that would prohibit part swapping?

The chassis are different. Body part swapping may be possible with some custom fab work but the tranny may be the only thing that will swap.
Providing that the 2008 has a 60e in it but I thought the newer stuff got 6spds?
It still may be possible.

I say good luck putting a 2002 front bumper on a 2008.
Literally nothing on the front end is the same. Headlights mounts totally different, the bumper itself is huge on a 2008, fenders would never line up with a 2002.

Yeah, I may have to get custom mounts fabbed up to carry the pushbumper. I'm running an 80E transmission with a 14 bolt rear axle. Brake lines don't scare me and apparently the rear control arms and mounting points are the same between the two models. I'll have to look at how to put my fuel pump system on a new truck since the filter is inside the tank.
If the new 6 or 8 speed transmissions are pretty tough I may not swap the 4L80E in.

I like my 6 speed a lot, I've had no issues with them.
They require a decent tune to make them shift nice and act like you want them too though. I own my own tuner so it was easy for me to do that.
The 6L80e is very strong in stock form, should be just fine for a little over 500whp or even more.
You'd have to find a 2009+ model though, I'd go with a 2010+ myself with a 6 speed.
