You can get a good daily driver to run 13's. Mine used to weigh 3350 with me, ac, toneau cover, 1/2 tank, etc. Regular driving weight. With reduction you can get them under 3000 lbs easy, all steel. Put in an aluminum LS1, glass hood, bumpers, fenders, roll pan, light buckets- it will be real light. I run a 700r4 now, I used to run a NV3500.
Edit- You can get a good-cheap daily driver to run 13's. Add an LS1, and it will run way faster than that an still be a daily driver.

yeah the guys including some racing seats and a couple hoods
a LS1 swap later on in place of this carbed 350 wouldnt be all too hard would it?
oh and does your insurance consider your truck a regular s10 or do they know the engine size and adjust accordingly?
so im thinking i should get this truck and fix whatever problems it might have? good/bad idea?
thanks in advance

My insurance doesnt know any better. I only have liability. An LS1 sway would be somewhat complicated, but they have been done many times. You can get stand alone ECM's and such, and advanced adapters sells motor kits. For $1000 I would probably get it, as long as the doors are the only rust and the brakes are the only simewhat major issue. The brakes are no big deal, but I wouldnt want to buy a major project.

i dont know if they salt the roads in MI, but what about underbody rust? if there is some, is there a way to get rid of it? ALL older cars/trucks here are plagued with it with all the salt used ont he roads
