Messed up my airbags!!!
#1
So I disconnected the shaft that comes from the steering column out to the engine bay (Right by the left driver header) My sister got in the truck and turned the wheel a **** load of times with it not being bolted, to the shaft that goes into the rack and pinon. It ended up busting something within the steering wheel. I heard crap that sounded broken moving around inside where the air bag is located. Now I have an airbag light on. My question is this dangerous driving around like this. I know that I did something to mess with the system. The other question is: can I turn off the driver side airbag some how. Also has anyone messed with the airbag system. I swear I do pretty good messing with all the other stuff, but airbags gives me the creeps.
Thanks Beto

NO, its not safe as the bag will not fire. Current price for your application is $149.76. You will need to remove the airbag and install this piece. You will have to have the airbag light reset afterwards.

Sweet guys thanks, I was just worried that it might go off all of a sudden in the middle of traffic. I might go to the junk yard and try to pick one up. Is this a bitch to replace. Like I said i really dont know anything about the airbag system on these.
If I disconnect the battery will that cut off all function to the airbags. I guess another way to ask is: if your vehicle is completly turned off with the battery disconnected and someone hits you head on... will the airbags diploy? I am assuming if this is true than one can just disconnect the power of the battery and change whatever needs changing.
