Hey guys. I was just pondering the idea of getting remote start for the truck. I had It integrated in a 2-way alarm in may last car, and it's simply a must.


I was looking on ebay the other day to see the price on keyless entry FOB's, and came upon the OEW FOB for the Malibu. This is a stock keyless entry FOB with the aux panic and remote start... Now I was thinking that I could program the remote myself in like 90 seconds for my truck... how hard would it be to install a remote start and the OEM relays and parts to work on the truck???

anyone got any bright ideas?

Noy sure the remote would work. I know the remotes are all pretty much vehicle specific. I will say that it might be possible and it would be nice to have.

 

I don't think that the fobs are vehicle interchangable, i doubt it will work from what i've heard, the G/F just got a new G6, and they have remote start from the factory, and thought about it, but was told no uh uh.

 

I think there is an old thread on this somewhere. To my knowledge, all GM key fobs are interchangable, you can steal your friends and reprogram it for your truck if you want. Anyway there is a way you can hook up a remote start to the key fob you already have. Instead of having it open the drivers door with one push of the unluck button and twice to open all, you switch the wires on the control unit so the first push unlocks all the doors and then wire the would noramlly signal all the doors to unlock is then free to activate the remote start. Thats how it works in theroy, do a search to find the specific wires and all
