Ls2 swap in a 2006 1500 4x4
Hey Folks, doing some research on a ls2 swap for my 06 1/2 ton. The engine is from a 2006 tbss(I have the whole truck). Im looking at dropping the engine trans in and wondering if anyone has done this and what problems I'm going to run in too? I know the knock sensors are differet and wanna keep the tbss non-resonate style (2wire) as they give more clearnace for headers also i dont wanna drill my block for the resonate style sensors. I know a conversion harness can be bought on jegs for the 1 wire to 2 wire sensors. Just curious on the tuning aspect of it. Does the 4l70 trans from the tbss just plug in to the truck no dicken around? Thanks for your inputs and advise

Let me put it this way, the only way to get the LS2 and the 4L70e to work together seamlessly would require you to install the E40 computer along with it. Then also installing the pedal assembly and TAC module too. Alot of the stuff in your truck would become unless like gauges and such using that computer as it's on a CAN-BUS system that 99-07 trucks aren't on.
Being a GEN 4 style vehicle the TBSS uses much newer and more complicated parts. The engine is also a 58/4x while the 99-07 GMT-800's are a 24/1x style engine (crank triggers). The transmission has a TCM (transmission control module) where as the GMT-800's do not in the regular 4L60e and 4L65e's.
I'd pull the engine and swap reluctor wheels myself and do all the little stuff with the sensors and tune it. Or just sell the entire drivetrain a lot of money and buy a cheaper LQ4 or LQ9 that would be a direct bolt in and go unit for your year truck. (minus the tuning of course for the new 6.0 engine.)

My understanding is that the 2006 tbss ran a 24 tooth reluctor and changed in 2007 to a 58 tooth. I could be wrong. The engine part numbers changed for 2006 to 2008... If that's the case does it make a differnace as for needing the other ecm? As for the trans stick with the stock one?
