Ls2 or lq9 OBS
Hi guys, I'm new in this world but I've read so much in this forum it teaches me alot of things, thank you ppl
Guys I really want some power my goal is to hit 450rwhp N/A and the drivability is so important to me.
I heard a lot of guys said that I should go with lq9/lq4 it's a common swap, likes the power and strong as hell
On the other hands, they told me ls2 engine is great engine, they showed me dyno numbers, and I think there will be zero issues for 450rwhp
I know it's a Truck but a 2wd truck, 1500, 5 speed manual,3.73 limited slip rear end and I don't like to tow. I want a street monster
So my question is
Should I go with ls2 or lq9 ?
What would be the easier way to 450rwhp with less mods ?
And what would be the easier swap for me ?
What do I need to swap it ?
Thank you guys

I suppose either would be an alright choice. Around here the LS2 will be like triple the cost of an LQ9 though from what I remember seeing.
Very possible to build the LQ9 for more power and still be cheaper than an LS2 pull out. Bigger camshaft, different cylinder heads or good head work, TBSS/NNBS intake manifold, headers and a tune. The tune is going to be the biggest thing for driveability.

So do you think my truck gonna hit 450rwhp with lq9 and this combination ?
Because I haven't seen anyone did 450rwhp out of lq9 truck with this simple work, but I've seen a lot of TBSS hit that 450rwhp with simple mods
What do you think ?

Over 400 sounds totally possible, don't be so dead set on 450.
Raise the compression ratio to match the LS2, add a decent sized camshaft with a good flowing NNBS intake manifold, pair that to a decent set of headers with a tune and you have one pretty good combo for power.
The LS2 gets it's extra power from a higher compression ratio and different cylinder heads/cam.

I have an iron LS2 in my truck (LQ9 bottom end/block and a complete TBSS top end) my heads are stock besides valve spring upgrade, and a baby cam and my combo is just about maxed out with the tune/injectors/head flow etc and I'm a 401rqhp/410rwtq. To get to your power goal, you would need a healthy cam/ ported heads bigger injectors and a small bump in compression would help get you close to that power goal, but the stock stuff starts to show its head around the 390-410 rwhp mark N/A before you need to switch some things around
