Radar jammers are illegal under the FCC "interference" laws. (You know that sticker that is on just about every electronic item you buy that says something like "this product may not cause interference with any other electronic product." [or some crap like that.]) Radar jammers are radio transmitters, operating on a controlled frequency. You need a license for those frequencies. That's why radar jammers are illegal.
Laser, on the other hand is light. The FCC does not have control over it. The FDA does, but they don't worry about interference and licensing. Laser jammers can work, as long as they are set up right and functioning at the right time. I don't know how long the Lidar gun needs to receive a signal to determine speed. If you are jamming too late it won't help you. If you have the jammer going all the time you will set off every laser detector you get near.
Just a bit of trivia: your headlights are laser jammers. The infrared energy emitted by halogen headlamps is seen by the Lidar gun. Now, I'm not saying that the cops can't clock you if you have your lights on, I'm just saying that you have to get closer for the signal being bounced off your car to overcome the interference from your lights.

By the way, here is some more info on avoiding Lidar tickets:
First, understand that a detector usually will not warn you in time. You have a better chance of seeing the cop before the detector goes off.
The best signal comes from reflective surfaces: license plates, headlights, chrome, etc. A flat-black paintjob will reflect the least-it won't guarantee you won't get clocked, but it will make it much more difficult.
The further away you are the less chance they have to lock on. All these tricks will really do is allow you some time to react and hopefully slow down before they get a lock.

Default I have The Go Ahead To Do A Test...

... with two officers. One a state patrol and the other a county sheriff. Both have different makes of guns. They are really eager to see the results. Being an in-law I have immunity. And yes I do have some useful contacts but they do not follow me on trips. And at the most they would be lenient, but if I was to be a repeat offender I would get the book.
I just cannot believe Lidatek has been in business so long by ripping folks off. At the most it will cost me shipping and a little time to test it. If it proves to be a joke I have an unconditional trial period.
Lidatek claims:
It responds instantly with a diode like the one it is being shot with.
It jams, and sounds an alarm for 5 to 7 seconds while you slow down, then stops to allow the officer to get a more acceptable reading, and perhaps not to raise suspicion. Then resets in 30 seconds.

Others claim:
It only fires for 5 seconds because it will heat up and burn out. Lidatek said this was true with the very first units. Those were of completely different hardware than the newer models.

I will report soon.
