Default Knock Sensors

Ok is it advisable to reuse knock sensors if they are not broken? I just want to put a ls6 valley cover on and don"t want to spend the money to replace them.
Anyone ever successfully re-used them?

If its not broken don't fix it..............however your right there and have them in your hands. If you don't mind pulling the upper intake and can do it pretty easy I would throw the used ones back in. For me I am known to over book my weekends and usually have weekends that rival my weekdays as far as no down time. So me personally I would replace them. But its your call.

mileage?

pull the 2 black boots on the knock sensors and see if you have water or anything in the holes. id look into replacing them just incase. if you replace them seal the rubber boots back with orange sealant.

They only have 35-40k and no problems yet. I just wanted to put a vented valley cover in and if I replace knock sensors I more than double the cost of the swap.
And if I do change them does anyone know where to find new sensors for cheap?

If they're not corroded you can let them fly, just be sure not to over torque them when you reinstall them or they will get over sensitized. When dealerships do engine swaps under warranty I'm sure that they get swapped over as the factory wants to save every penny possible...at least that's how it is with Toyota/Lexus

If they only have 35-40k on them....then x2 on what Budhayes said. Tq them to 15ftlbs and be done. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THEM! Also when they are out try really hard not to drop them. They are really sensitive and that can throw them out of wack.
