Default key stuck in ignition

so ive been driving my friends truck (99 or 00 silvy) all week since i wrecked my car last weekend and just yesterday when i got home from work i went to shut it off and the key wont turn.....

its stuck in the "on" position and i can turn it forward to "start" but thats it... it wont go back to where i can shut it off. so whenever i need to shut it off i have to unplug the coil packs then disconnect the battery!!

any ideas on whats going on or how to fix it??

Might be the tumbler inside of the ignition. My 00 Sierra was kind of like that but I'd have to jiggle the key as I turned it on cuz it would get stuck.

The tumblers do not need to be engaged after the cylinder has left the off position. You may have a broken cylinder housing/case or a faulty park/nuetral. Try turning it off with the tilt adjusted up/down or while shaking the steering wheel left and right.

Pop the steering wheel cover off. There should be a button that you can press and be able to turn key and pull it out. If you do have it just unbolt it out and it be fine
