Honestly, If you change your oil every 3000 miles, does it really matter which high quality synthetic you run?

I run 5W30 Mobil 1, I like it. Runs better than the Havoline 10W30 I use to run. Lasts about 1000-1500 miles longer also.

i run AMSOIL 0w30 in my Z28, it is an extended drain period oil (20,000 miles) i just check it every so often and if it's dirty i put a new filter on (sdf32 by amsoil) and top off the oil, i have over 30,000 miles on this oil with MANY 10 second passes and some spray as well. regular 7500 series AMSOIL is guaranteed for up to 7500 miles before needing to be changed in any combustion engine. i'm an AMSOIL distributor if anyone is interested in more information feel free to shoot me a pm and i'd be glad to supply more info. btw...i have over 50,000 on our work diesel with AMSOIL 5w30 Heavy Duty Diesel oil with one of their Oil Bypass Systems with 2 oil filters, one regular AMSOIL filter and one super fine AMSOIL bypass filter and the oil looks brand new every time i check it. it's an 03 Cummins Dodge with around 600 Horse and 900 FT. LBS and it's only had one oil change ever.

First of all, you shouldnt be changing out any synthetic oil at 3000 miles. Most are good for at least 6000 mi. They hold up better and last longer than conventional oils thats why they cost more. If your changing out a synthetic every 3000 miles, youre just wasting time and money. I dont know about Mobile 1, but Royal Purple claims that you can run up to 12,000 miles on a single oil change but they recomend changing just the filter and topping it off every 3000 mi. I would just go about 6000 or 7000 miles and then do a complete oil change because I dont like all that extra work.
A3Z28, how much does the standard 10w30 Amsoil synthetic usually run??

Yea thats a huge waste to change Full syn at 3k miles should last around 6-7 atleast.
Ill be changing my amsoil out around 10k.. While doing a filter change around every 4.

I use Mobil 1 and try to change it as close to 3K as possible. Im also interested in seeing how much this engine will take. The longer it hangs on, the more in depth my build on the 6.0 can be. I just dont see the point of saving $20 when you drop so much money on performance mods to get the most from your motor. Of course, I dont drive very often so it is several months between oil changes for me. This is coming from arguably the cheapest person on this or any other board.

Another good thing about Royal Purple (not sure about other synthetics) is that it doesnt oxidize or break down (over time) as fast as conventional oil. Thats why they say to change conventional oil every 3000 mi or 3 months. Go check out their website there is a **** load of info and independant test results. www.royalpurple.com Do some reading they have alot of useful info. A3Z28, $4.75 aint too bad, but do you know where I could get it around Baton Rouge Louisiana??? I would rather not have too order it. THANKS!!!

i've personally seen Royal Purple oil gum up and become very thick in very short periods of time in "high" performance engines. i wouldn't put it in my Daughter's Jr. Dragster.... BodyGuard, go to WWW.THEBESTOIL.COM and see if you can locate a dealer in your area. if not i'll check and see what i can find and let you know. if you do have to order it i can make you a good deal on the shipped price. just let me know.
